Mbanandi Saka Mahala joined YONECO on 10 September 2015 as a reporter and rose to the rank of Deputy Chief Producer, Projects and Programs responsible for generation and review of YFM radio content in the year 2016.
Currently she is the Chief Reporter to which she is responsible for the daily news production in YFM. Her work involves news editing, compiling news bulletin, chairing editorial meetings and supervising Deputy Chief Reporters and Reporters.
Mbanandi also coordinated a three-year Community Mental health Project; the action built and connected mentally ill persons to community-level and home-based care structures in Malawi. Mbanandi has a particular interest in mental health aspects as well as programs on youth and women. She is a strong advocate for shattering stereotypes and myths about mental illness, helping the public see that people with mental illness are just people.
