On 15 August 2025, YONECO joined partners, stakeholders, and community members in commemorating Day of the African Child (#DAC), which took place at Undani, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kapeni in Blantyre.
Among other activities, YONECO showcased its work and impact through a pavilion, where participants, led by the guest of honour, had the opportunity to learn more about the organization’s programmes.
The Honourable Justice Jean Rosemary Kayira was the guest of honour and was accompanied by Senior Chief Kapeni and Blantyre District Commissioner Alex Mdooko, among other notable figures.
The event, which also attracted various primary school learners, began with a parade led by the Salvation Army Blantyre Corps Brass Band.
The theme for this year’s event was “Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights; Progress since 2010”.
