In a bid to address the health challenges posed by climate change, YONECO conducted a climate change adaptation training session at Mtambalika in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Mposa, Machinga district.

The session aimed to strengthen the community’s understanding of how climate change is impacting public health and to equip them with practical strategies for adaptation.

The session provided hands-on guidance in promoting climate-resilient health practices, which included effective use of mosquito nets, water treatment, disease surveillance, and various sanitation and hygiene practices, such as the making and use of tippy taps.

“This training session has empowered us to understand the effects of climate change and to take action. We are now better prepared to protect ourselves, particularly the vulnerable, from the various emerging health risks,” explained one of the participants, Mofati Kadewere.

The activity was conducted as part of YONECO’s broader project, which is being funded by Foundation S, with the aim of building community resilience to climate-induced health issues.
