On 4 November 2025, YONECO hosted an envoy from UN Women on a monitoring visit under the “Sustaining Community Women Movement for Peace Building and Response to Humanitarian Response” project.
The delegation began their visit with a courtesy call to YONECO’s Executive Director, where they discussed the project’s progress and shared insights on strengthening women-led peacebuilding initiatives at the community level.
The team later toured YONECO’s key facilities, starting with the Tithandizane National Helpline Services; home to the 116 Child Helpline, 5600 Gender-Based Violence Helpline, 393 Drug and Substance Abuse Helpline, and 6600 Youth Helpline. The visitors were impressed by YONECO’s use of technology to deliver life-saving support across Malawi.
They also visited the ICT Department, the innovation hub behind YONECO’s ICT4D solutions such as the Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) System, National Service Directory Mapping, and the Tithandizane Helpline App, several of which are integrated into the ongoing project.
The visit concluded at YONECO FM Studios, where the delegation witnessed the production of Amayi ndi Atsikana Patsogolo (“Women and Girls Forward”), a radio programme that amplifies women’s voices and promotes peacebuilding and empowerment.
