YONECO, in collaboration with South Lunzu Police Victim Support Unit (VSU), held a community meeting in Machinjiri to discuss ways of strengthening child protection and reducing incidences of Gender-based Violence (GBV) in the area.

The meeting aimed to reinforce community-based protection mechanisms and encourage residents to take a proactive role in safeguarding children and vulnerable individuals. The collaboration highlighted the strong partnership between YONECO and law enforcement agencies in addressing social issues through education and community engagement.

During the meeting, a YONECO shared information about the organization’s toll-free helplines and urged community members to report any form of abuse without fear.

Community members were also encouraged to enroll their children in Early Childhood Development (ECD) classes at YONECO’s local drop-in centre. The community members were informed that early learning helps children grow in a safe environment while reducing exposure to risks such as neglect and abuse.
