YONECO participated in graduation ceremonies for Parent-Child Communication (PCC) Circles, comprising households that have successfully completed a three-month mentorship programme across seven Traditional Authorities (T/A) in Mchinji and Dedza districts.

The events that were held from 15 to 20 December 2025, brought together families, PCC Facilitators, various district stakeholders, and community leaders.

YONECO, with support from KOICA through UNFPA, has been implementing PCC interventions aimed at improving communication between parents and children regarding issues of SRHR.

PCC interventions help parents provide timely and accurate information, enabling their adolescent children to make informed decisions and avoid sexual risk behaviours.

Families shared testimonies about improved communication on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues between parents and children, reduced cases of unplanned pregnancies, and improved understanding of contraceptive use.

“The PCC sessions have helped me communicate openly with my child and guide them to make responsible decisions,” explained Alfred Njazi, one parents from the graduating circles at Mkanda, Mchinji district.

The PCC sessions also have a particular focus on various groups of young people including Young People with Disabilities (YPWD), Young People Living with HIV (YPLH) and teen mothers, among others.
