YONECO conducted a hygiene and sanitation awareness session at Kawale Primary School in Chitipa district during the rainy season, when the incidence of cholera and other waterborne diseases often increases.
The session was aimed at encouraging the learners to adopt good hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing, proper personal cleanliness, and avoiding unhygienic foodstuffs. Learners were also sensitized on sanitation, including proper waste disposal, maintaining a clean school environment, and avoiding littering.
The facilitators reminded the learners that the school belongs to them and urged them to take responsibility for maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
A total of 125 learners (80 boys and 45 girls) participated in the session.
