YONECO, in collaboration with social welfare officers, conducted a mental health awareness session for learners at Mitole Primary School in Chikwawa district.

The session aimed to encourage learners to seek mental health support and to help one another in creating a safe and healthy school environment.

The discussions also covered children’s rights and responsibilities, as well as common challenges affecting learners, including examination stress, peer pressure and lack of access to support.

Facilitators highlighted the use of ‘happy and sad’ boxes, as well as the toll-free Child Helpline (116), as some of the safe channels for reporting concerns and seeking help.
