YONECO conducted a Human and Minority Rights awareness session in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Juma, aimed at promoting respect for vulnerable groups and strengthening peaceful coexistence within communities.

The session sensitized participants on the need to protect minorities, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, and other socially excluded groups, from discrimination, violence, and marginalization. Facilitators emphasized equal rights, dignity, and access to essential services for all.

Community members also reflected on local challenges, including the reported killing of two elderly people last year over witchcraft accusations, an act widely condemned as a serious human rights violation.

The members present were urged to promote tolerance, respect, and the reporting of abuse and discrimination cases.
