YONECO has intensified community outreach efforts through door-to-door sessions, delivering hygiene, sanitation, and protection messages to households in Chikwawa as the rainy season increases the risk of waterborne diseases.
In this initiative, families are being educated on proper waste management, safe water storage, and maintaining clean surroundings to prevent illness.
Another household demonstrated good personal hygiene practices by regularly washing clothes, highlighting how simple daily habits can help reduce disease risks.
During the visits, one family discovered that a waste pit located near their entrance posed a health hazard and promptly covered it, opting to use a safer pit farther from the home.
Beyond sanitation, YONECO also raised awareness on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), encouraging families to report incidents they experience or witness and informing them about available reporting channels.
