In an effort to strengthen the socioeconomic welfare of women, YONECO has facilitated the establishment of a Village Savings and Loans (VSL) group at Area 5 in Machinjiri, Blantyre.
The initiative aims to empower women economically by promoting a culture of saving, financial discipline, and small-scale investment.
Through the VSL model, members will be able to access soft loans to start or expand small businesses, helping them generate income and support their households.
Members expressed optimism that the platform will not only improve their financial stability but also strengthen solidarity and mutual support among women in the community.
This initiative reflects YONECO’s continued commitment to promoting sustainable community development and the empowerment of women like us,” explained one of the VSL group members.
The group has already begun operations, electing its leadership and setting clear guidelines to govern savings contributions, loan disbursement, and repayment procedures.
