Today, YONECO conducted a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (#WASH) awareness session targeting learners at Khumula Primary School in Lilongwe District as part of efforts to promote healthy hygiene practices among school-going children.
The session aimed to raise awareness among learners on the importance of maintaining proper personal hygiene and a clean environment in order to prevent the spread of diseases.
During the session, facilitators conducted practical demonstrations on essential hygiene practices such as proper tooth brushing, handwashing, mopping floors, and the importance of regular bathing. The learners were also guided on environmental cleanliness, including how to properly manage waste through the use of dustbins and rubbish pits.
The interactive session allowed learners to actively participate in demonstrations and discussions, helping them understand how good hygiene practices contribute to improved health both at school and at home.
In total, 680 learners attended the session (300 boys and 380 girls) who expressed a strong interest in learning about sanitation and hygiene practices.
