23 female students from Zomba Islamic High School have graduated from the Innovative Research and Learning (GIRL) Programme, facilitated by the YONECO ICT Hub (Y Hub).

YONECO’s GIRL Programme aims to stimulate girls’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (#STEM) in order to nurture a generation of women with the technical knowledge and skills required to design, build, and manage digital technologies.

The 23 students underwent an intensive 12-week practical study programme that focused on ideation, basics of artificial intelligence, coding, App Inventor, Scratch programming, and pitching.

The GIRL Programme, operating under the motto “Coding Her Future: Empowering Girls Through Technology,” aims to reach over 500 girls in 17 districts across Malawi by 2026.
