The Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Mary Navicha, has called for strong collaboration among civil society organisations, government and stakeholders in dealing with Gender Based Violence (GBV).
The Minister made the call during a side event themed ‘From Complaints to Justice: Advancing Women’s and Girls’ Access to Justice in Malawi’ at the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, held in New York, USA.
Among others, Honourable Navicha highlighted the work done by YONECO in the protection and safeguarding of women’s and girls’ rights, stating that it is a critical lifeline for survivors of GBV.
The Minister has since called for financial support for the work of YONECO and other similar organisations to reach more women and girls.
