On March 29, 2026, YONECO organized a social football match in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Bvumbwe, Thoyo.
The match brought together teams from Zomba and the local hosts in a bid to promote positive social change among men and adolescent boys.
The match, organized under YONECO’s Sport for Development (S4D) initiative, served as a recreational activity and a strategic platform for community mobilization and dialogue on risky sexual behaviours. The event attracted many people, particularly adolescent boys and young men who actively engaged in discussions on sexual and reproductive health and child protection.
During the event, participants were encouraged to adopt responsible behaviours, including practicing safe sex and refraining from engaging in relationships with minors. Facilitators created an open, dialogue-driven environment where patrons could ask questions and receive accurate information on issues affecting their health and wellbeing.
As part of the intervention, a total of 5,184 male lubricated condoms were distributed to support safer sexual practices among participants
