As primary schools closed for the second academic term last week on 2 April 2026, YONECO conducted awareness sessions across various districts in Malawi to encourage learners to spend their holidays responsibly.

The sessions focused on promoting positive behaviour and discouraging activities that could jeopardise learners’ wellbeing and education. One such session, held in collaboration with teachers at Muselema Primary School, reached 175 learners.

YONECO emphasized the importance of making informed choices during the break to ensure a safe return to school next term.

The headteacher at Muselema Primary School commended the initiative, saying, “We are grateful to YONECO for equipping our learners with knowledge that will help them make responsible decisions during the holidays. This engagement is key to ensuring that learners return to school safe, healthy, and ready to continue their education.”
