On 19th May 2026, YONECO hosted a delegation from NBS Bank to discuss the extension of access to formal financial services for Savings and Loan Groups (SLGs) in Chikwawa district.

Despite ongoing fuel shortages affecting mobility, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to expanding community financial inclusion. NBS Bank Service Centre Manager for Nchalo, Harvey Chinombo, commended YONECO for linking the bank to grassroots communities.

Chinombo noted that the partnership has already led to the registration of 17 SLG groups and growth in the bank’s customer base.

YONECO emphasized the need to advance discussions on credit access and loan disbursement, as many SLGs are ready to scale up their businesses to improve household livelihoods and economic independence.

“This engagement reflects our efforts in promoting sustainable community banking opportunities for women, youth, and vulnerable community members in the district,” explained NBS Bank Service Centre Manager for Nchalo, Harvey Chinombo.
