On 26 May 2026, YONECO conducted a child protection and development session at Dalitso Primary School in Mwanza, aimed at equipping learners with knowledge about personal safety as well as their rights and responsibilities.

The session targeted learners in junior primary school classes and used child-friendly approaches such as storytelling, songs, group activities, and question-and-answer discussions, which helped to create a safe and engaging learning environment.

The session focused on various social protection issues, as well as rights and their corresponding responsibilities. The children were also made aware of various reporting mechanisms, including the Tithandizane toll-free National Child Helpline #116.
