YONECO conducted a child rights engagement session at Mtalimanja Village in Mangochi, to promote positive parenting and strengthen community-based child protection systems.

The session focused on children’s rights, positive parenting, child labour, harmful cultural practices, and preventing violence against children. Participants discussed the impact of violence on children’s health, education and future opportunities, while emphasizing the importance of gender equality and challenging harmful cultural norms.

The meeting concluded with a call from traditional leaders for parents, community leaders and school authorities to work together to create safe and supportive environments where children can realize their full potential.
