YONECO, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office have conducted a series of sensitization meetings to protect children fromfrom violence and abuse in the area of and Group Village Head (GVH) Bangamoyo, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwaulambya, Chitipa district.

The awareness meetings focused on safeguarding children during the school holiday period, a time when they are often at greater risk of abuse, exploitation and child marriages.

Speaking during the meeting, GVH Bangamoyo the community’s commitment to ending child marriages and child labour.

“As a community leader, I want to make it clear that we must protect our children and allow them to continue with their education,” said GVH Bangamoyo.
Facilitators urged parents and guardians to prioritize children’s safety and education by avoiding practices that expose them to harm. In all the sessions, parents were advised against involving children in activities that could increase their vulnerability to exploitation
