YONECO, through its Chitipa District Office, conducted a child-friendly mental health session at the Youth Drop-In Centre (DIC) to promote emotional well-being, self-expression and positive coping among children.
A total of 23 children, comprising 16 boys and seven girls, participated in interactive activities that included singing, dancing and group games facilitated by YONECO staff.
“I enjoyed singing, dancing and playing with my friends. I also learnt that when I feel sad or worried, I should talk to someone I trust instead of keeping my feelings to myself,” said one of the children who participated in the session.
The session used play, music and movement to create a safe and supportive environment where children could express their emotions, relieve stress and build confidence. The activities also helped children learn simple ways of managing difficult feelings and encouraged them to seek help whenever they felt sad, worried or overwhelmed
