Wezzie Mtonga Kamphale
Wezzie Mtonga Kamphale is a management strategist who holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Management from the University of Derby, UK and a Bachelor of Arts Humanities degree from University of Malawi Chancellor College. Currently Wezzie works as Program Manager for Youth Net and Counseling YONECO and heads the program portfolio for the organization. Having worked for YONECO for the last 7 years, Wezzie has grown through the ranks in the organization to the current position that she holds. Wezzie is a seasoned program manager and has successfully managed a number of big projects for YONECO funded by USAID, DFID, SIMAVI and UNPFA among others. Further Wezzie has extensive capacity in adolescent sexual and reproductive health, gender programming, key population programming and organizational and program management. Among some of the national level contributions, Wezzie participated in the development of the YFHS 2015-2020 strategy for Malawi and is currently holding a secretarial position to the cross-border referral working group for Child Helplines in Africa. Wezzie is also a trained and recognized family planning and reproductive health champion under the HP+ program coordinated by Palladium. Together with a network of other women, Wezzie works towards the promotion of access to reproductive health services and family planning among women and young people. Wezzie represent YONECO in a number of national level technical working groups which include, the Adolescent girls and young women TWG, the Key populations TWG, the YFHS TWG among others.
One of her notable contributions to YONECO was her ability to play a leading role in facilitating the development of the 2017- 2021 YONECO strategic plan which provides the current strategic direction for the organization. At the moment, Wezzie has devoted her time in developing academic and programmatic papers for publishing ahead of her ambitions to study for a PHD in the nearest future. Wezzie has interests to further grow her leadership and influence in NGO work in Malawi and is willing to get connected to likeminded young women for networking and support.
