Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) is a local NGO that is committed to empowering youth, women and children, promoting good health, human rights and democracy, adapting and mitigating the impact of climate change and conducting research for evidence based programming and advocacy.  YONECO vision is a self-reliant, healthy and resilient society that respects democratic values and principles. YONECO works with both local and international NGOs and donors, government departments and Community based organizations. YONECO has programmes and projects in Zomba, Mchinji, Ntchisi, Mulanje, Nkhota Kota, Phalombe, Chiradzulu, Mangochi, Machinga, Balaka, Ntcheu, Nkhata Bay and Rumphi. YONECO also has national programmes like the first ever child helpline in Malawi for the protection and promotion of child rights and owns a youth focused radio station.  YONECO now invites applications from suitably qualified, dynamic and experienced person to the fill a position of the Finance Manager which exist at YONECO Head Office in Zomba.

 Purpose of the Position

The Finance Manager is the Head of Finance Section in Youth Net and Counselling and provides strategic leadership in Financial Management Services of YONEO. As a Head of the Department, the Finance Manager is responsible for all finance support services, and forms part of the Management team. The Finance Manager provides strategic direction and overall leadership to all the service finance section. The major areas directed are: Finance management, networking with donors and other stakeholders, fundraising and resource mobilization, employee management, and reporting. The Finance Manager is also an advisor to the Executive Director on Finance Management Issues.

Experience and Qualifications

The Finance Manager Candidate must have a degree in financial accounting, financial management, or business administration majoring in Finance, Professional Accounting such as ACCA/CIMA, member of a professional accountants’ association with not less than 3 years’ experience in management and busy environment. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with donors and other high level officials. The candidate must have experience using the various computer packages like Excel, Pastel Evolution and Quick Books.
