The Programme Manager for YONECO, Wezzie Mtonga Kamphale, described the Participation of traditional leaders in the process of strengthening child protection systems as one of the best techniques in promoting the wellbeing of children in Malawi.

YONECO, in collaboration with Lilongwe Social Rehabilitation Centre (SRC), organized an interface meeting with chiefs and block leaders around Lilongwe city to familiarize them with the operations of Lilongwe CRC and YONECO.

In an interview with YFM, Wezzie Mtonga Kamphale, said the meeting was aimed at bridging the gaps that exist in child protection systems at community level. Speaking on behalf of other Chiefs who attended the meeting, William Banda thanked YONECO and Lilongwe CRC for organizing the meeting citing that it has broadened their knowledge on Child protection and gender issues.
