On 24 December, the Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare (MoGCDSW), Honourable Grace Kwelepeta, celebrated this year’s Christmas with children who were withdrawn from the streets at Lilongwe Social Rehabilitation Centre.

Among other things, the Minister showered the children with assorted gifts including clothes. The celebration was spiced up by dances and music performances by the children.

In his remarks, MacBain Mkandawire thanked the Deputy Minister for sparing her time to enjoy with the children. Mkandawire further described Honourable Kwelepeta’s gesture as a sign of true leadership.

The Deputy Minister stated that Christmas is about sharing and love hence her visit to the centre.

Lilongwe Social Rehabilitation Centre is a government facility which is being managed by YONECO and MoGCDSW. The function was also attended by children from Tokondane and Chisomo Children’s Homes.
