Chikondi Violet Mlozi
As the District Coordinator for Youth Net and Counseling (YONECO) in Machinga district Chikondi is committed to helping underprivileged people in her community (youth, children and women) .She joined the organization in December, 2016. Chikondi’s main area of interest which she also intends to further her studies in International Community Development or Public Health.
Chikondi is a holder of a Bachelors of Arts Humanities degree obtained from University of Malawi, Chancellor College. In May, 2017 Chikondi got awarded a certificate in Civic Leadership under Young African Leaders Initiative Regional Leadership Centre in South Africa where she attended a 4 weeks intensive training. In December, 2018 Chikondi was selected as one of the Queen’s Young leader Award winners for 2018. Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, in partnership with Comic Relief and The Royal Commonwealth Society, launched The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme in 2014 at Buckingham Palace. The four-year programme, supported by The University of Cambridge’s Institute of Continuing Education, aims to discover, support and celebrate young people from across the Commonwealth who are making a difference in their societies. Currently Chikondi is enrolled in a one year “Leading Change” online course offered by University of Cambridge Centre of Continuing Learning (A package exclusive for the Queen’s Leaders).
Prior to joining YONECO Chikondi served as a Volunteer School Administrator for Girls Shine Christian Academy in Mpingu, the rural part of Lilongwe City (June, 2016). Apart from being the administrator, Chikondi acted as a role model to the young people as she was one of the young members of staff who had attained something higher education despite the numerous challenges faced. She also worked with Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education (CYECE) as an Administration Officer in 2016.
Aside her Professional life Chikondi loves the media and she volunteered with Trans World Radio as an On-air presenter from June, 2016.
