Helpline Services Counsellors
Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) is a local NGO that is committed to empowering youth, women and children, preventing the spread of HIV infection, mitigating the impact of AIDS, promoting democracy and human rights and conducting research youth, women and children development. YONECO vision is a self-reliant, healthy and resilient society that respects democratic values and principles. YONECO works with both local and international NGOs and donors, government departments and Community based organizations. YONECO has programmes and projects in Zomba, Mchinji, Ntchisi, Mulanje, Thyolo, Phalombe, Chiradzulu, Mangochi, Machinga, Balaka, Ntcheu, Nkhata Bay and Rumphi. YONECO also implements national programmes like the Tithandizane Helpline Services which comprise of the Child Helpline 116, GBV Crisis Line 5600 and Drug and Substance Abuse Helpline 6600. YONECO now invites applications from suitably qualified, dynamic and experienced persons to fill the position of Helpline Counsellors which exist at YONECO Head Office in Zomba.
Purpose of the Position
Helpline Services Counsellors: The Helpline Counsellors support the survivors of abuse and violence and provide information on various issues affecting youth, women and children. The major areas of responsibility are: Counselling of young people in face to face counselling, Gender Based Violence (GBV) counselling, on line counselling, case follow ups, monitoring and evaluation, documentation, data collection and management.
Qualification: Minimum diploma in relevant development-related field such as Community Development, Education, Rural Development, Health, Agriculture, and Environment/Natural Resources, or Malawi School Certificate; Good written and oral communication skills preferably in English; Good interpersonal skills and self-management skills.
Language Specification:
The potential candidates must be fluent either in French or Swahili and this is a must
