Today, the proprietors of El-Tek Stationery and Hardware Ellen and Thomas Munthali have supported YONECO’s Safe Place with a donation of a chest freezer.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of YONECO, MacBain Mkandawire thanked Ellen and Thomas Munthali and urged other well-wishers to emulate the good gesture.
Ellen Munthali stated that El-Tek Stationery and Hardware conducts various corporate social responsibility interventions and promised to support other aspects of YONECO’s work so as to enhance the rights and welfare of the youth, women and children.
YONECO has safe spaces in the north, central and southern regions of Malawi. The safe places provide temporary accommodation to women and children who survive abuse but they cannot return to their homes due to various reasons. Apart from providing temporary accommodation, the facilities also provide psychosocial support, and food among other things.
