On 21 February, 2022, Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare organized a conference where the Executive Director of YONECO, MacBain Mkandawire showcased how Tithandizane Helpline Services operates.
Tithandizane Helpline Services was initiated by YONECO and it was later adopted by the Malawi government to become a national intervention for enhancing child protection and a GBV prevention mechanism through toll-free phone services and walk-in Client reporting services.
Over the years, Tithandizane Helpline Services has grown to encompass dedicated toll-free lines namely child helpline – 116, GBV crisis line – 5600, Drug and Substance Abuse Hotline – 6600 and a Youth Helpline which is accessible on 393.
