YONECO has expressed satisfaction with the way people are reporting cases of Gender Based Violence- GBV- and other human rights abuses.
YONECO’s Executive Director, MacBain Mkandawire said this in Mulanje on Saturday when the organisation was distributing relief food items to over 500 households which were affected by the cyclones in March this year.
Mkandawire said an increase of cases recorded at YONECO’s Helpline Call Center, is a clear indication that people understand the benefits of reporting such cases and that he was optimistic that the battle against GBV may be won soon.
With funding from United Kingdom based Vitol Foundation, YONECO is implementing a six-month project called Empowering for Resilience, Mitigation and Protection of the Youth, Women and Children Survivors of Cyclone Ana (ERMP).
