Malawi commemorated the 2023 World Radio Day in style at a function that was held at YONECO Head Office in Zomba on 29 March 2023.
The function commenced with a solidarity march which started from Chinamwali township to YONECO Head Office at Skinala. The march was led by sweet melodies by Malawi Prison Service Brass Band.
The function which was presided over by the Minister of information and Digitalization, Honourable Moses Kumkuyu, was co-hosted by YONECO FM (YFM), Chanco Community Radio Station, and Mzati Radio Station.
The activity was spiced up by a number of live music performances, traditional dances, plays, and drama.
World Radio Day is an annual commemoration event that is commemorated on 13 February. However, Malawi planned to hold its national commemoration event on 29 March 2023. This year, the day was celebrated under the theme ‘Radio and peace.’
