Malawi commemorated the World Consumer Rights Day at a function that was held on 11 April, 2025 at Gymkhana Club in Zomba, under the theme “Fair and Safe Digital Space for Consumers.”
YONECO participated in the event, which was organized by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), and featured the Director of MACRA, Daud Suleman, as the guest of honor.
During his keynote address, the Director of MACRA acknowledged the many different stakeholders present at the function, including YONECO, and urged all partners and the general public to hold accountable the many service provider platforms that the public utilizes. He stressed the importance of ensuring consumer rights are upheld through the regulatory board, MACRA.
YONECO showcased its various digital-based services, from the Tithandizane National Helpline to the YONECO FM National Radio Station, informing visitors on how they may access the different services the organization provides.
The event concluded with a lively performance by musical sensation Kell Kay, who entertained participants at the venue.
