As one of the organizations that have been accredited to conduct Voter and Civic Education (#CVE) for the upcoming September 16, 2025, General Election, YONECO organized a voter awareness session with traditional and community leaders at Kaseye, Chitipa district.

The engagement aimed to mobilize community leaders to actively encourage registered voters in their areas to participate in the forthcoming elections.

During the session, YONECO emphasized the critical role that traditional leaders play in promoting civic responsibility and ensuring that citizens understand the importance of casting their vote on polling day.

In his remarks, Village Head Mwenevumbo described the meeting as both timely and very important. The village head expressed concern over growing voter apathy in the area and how it impacts on good governance.

“Voter apathy brings wrong people into positions of power,” he said. “As leaders, we must encourage our people to participate and elect leaders who truly understand our needs,” explained Village Head Mwenevumbo.

YONECO’s voter education campaign is part of a nationwide effort to strengthen democratic participation and ensure that the electoral process is inclusive and transparent.

YONECO has scheduled to conduct more engagement sessions with various stakeholders in the lead-up to the 2025 General Election.
