On 19 November, 2024, YONECO organized a meeting at Kazembe, Zomba to sensitize community members about the significance of early childhood education on a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
YONECO, through its Child Protection and Development Programme, has been establishing Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers across Malawi to ensure that children from various socioeconomic backgrounds have access to pre-school leaning opportunities. As such, continuous efforts are being made to ensure that children from the targeted areas are reaping the befits of this initiative.
“Most parents from this area were prevented from sending their children to kindergarten because of distances and the prohibitive tuition fees. We are thankful for this ECD centre and I am hopeful that many children will benefit from it,” explain Alice Magombo, one of the community members who attended the meeting.
YONECO, as a member of Early Childhood Development (ECD) Coalition of Malawi, is committed to working with all like-minded individuals and institutions to promote early childhood education in Malawi.
