In a bid to strength democracy and ensuring that the needs and voices of all citizens are considered, YONECO organized a campaign in Rumphi to encourage women to register for the 2025 General Elections in the country.
On 12th November 2024, YONECO engaged Mputa Women’s Group at Rumphi Boma on the importance of women’s participation in electoral processes. The women were urged to register for the elections as the second phase of the Voter Registration exercise (9 – 22 November, 2024) targeted various districts including Rumphi.
Mputa Women’s Group has a membership of 30 people who were all encouraged to reach out to others with the information.
“Women’s voting can greatly contribute towards balancing gender biases and influence policy direction on various issues, including those that directly affect them like sexual reproductive realth,” reasoned George Mlowoka- YONECO District Manager for Rumphi
