On 14 May 2025, YONECO successfully concluded a training session for community-based Social Accountability Facilitators aimed at enhancing grassroots advocacy for gender-inclusive service delivery.

The two-day training targeted eight women and two men from the areas of Traditional Authorities (T/As) Mizinga and Sitola, where YONECO is implementing ‘Sustaining Women Movement for Peacebuilding and Response to Humanitarian Needs Project’ with funding from UN Women.

Just like many parts of Malawi, women and girls face a number of challenges in accessing key social services. Thus, in a bid to address such issues, #YONECO has trained the community facilitators to use various social accountability tools, including the community scorecard approach, to monitor and assess the delivery of social services in the district.

“This training has empowered us. We will now be able engage fellow community members in analyzing the underlying issues that contribute to challenges in service delivery and work with the various duty bearers to address these issues,” explained one of the trained facilitators, Rose Masamba.
