Students from Skyway University hailed YONECO for its proficiency in improving the lives of  the marginalized groups of people as well as the interventions which the organisation is currently undertaking to enhance social-economic capacities of people in Malawi.

According to Brown Gondwe, a lecturer at the University, the aim of the visit was to give the children a practical exposure to the theories they learn in class as well as to appreciate the role that YONECO plays in relation to community development.

During the visit, the students were able to interact with YONECO staff in order to learn more from them the practicalities of their various study programmes. The students were very attentive and actively participated throughout the session that was firstly hosted at YONECO Head Office before switching to YONECO’s Zomba Youth Drop In Centre.

The aim of visiting Zomba Youth Drop In Centre was to appreciate what YONECO is doing at district level in the district. The students had a chance to interact with some of the vulnerable children that YONECO supports through the centre.

The students were also very lucky to find YONECO’s Street Kids Band training session in progress. The band gave them a special treat by performing some songs from their debut album as well as some copy right tracks.

The melody was just too strong and irresistible so much so that all the students joined the jive and merrymaking until it was time for them to leave.

The group comprised of 44 students who are currently doing their studies in Nutrition and Food Security, Community Development as well as Public Health.
