13/02/2020: YONECO organized a tree planting exercise in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwambo in Zomba district as part of this year’s Tree Planting Season activities.

The exercises brought together primary school learners from the area, traditional and religious leaders as well as representatives from various government departments including the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).

The Guest of Honour to the function was one of YONECO’s Board Members, Sultan Chowe.

This exercise is among the activities which YONECO is conducting under the 2019/2020 National Forestry Season which will run from 15th December to 15th April, 2020. The main objective of the season is to build a responsible citizenry that cares for trees and forests for the sustenance of present and future generations. The theme for this year’s season is ‘Trees and Forests for Transformed Landscapes and Livelihoods’
