Senior Shift Supervisor – Helpline Services

YONECO has programmes and projects in Zomba, Mchinji, Ntchisi, Mulanje, Thyolo, Phalombe, Chiradzulu, Mangochi, Machinga, Balaka, Ntcheu, Nkhata Bay, Lilongwe, Chikhwawa and Rumphi. YONECO also has national programmes like the first ever child helpline in Malawi for the protection and promotion of child rights.

YONECO now invites applications from suitably qualified, dynamic and experienced persons to the fill the position of Senior Shift Supervisor – Helpline Services which exist at YONECO Head.

Purpose
Reporting to the Deputy Helpline Services Manager (Team Leader), the Senior Supervisor – will be responsible in ensuring that operations and tasks within the Helpline Services Department are running smoothly, that risks are identified, that cases are followed up and that trends of cases are monitored and reported. Specifically, the Senior Shift Supervisor will provide advice, support, line management and expertise to all staff and volunteers regarding Helpline and casework, coordinate the Helpline staff and volunteers on a day to day basis, reporting any concerns to the Deputy Helpline Services Manager, ensure that all Helpline staff and volunteers provide high-quality advice which is evidence based, technically and legally sound and assist as required, conduct regular meetings with the Helpline team members to enable discussion of trends, issues arising and to update the team on relevant developments in the unit. plan regular meetings with individual staff members, including carrying out performance review, objective setting and training needs and provide counselling and support to clients and helpline staff

Person Specification (Essential)
Good knowledge and understanding of the variety of Social Care services and the avenues for addressing problems with excellent skills, customer relations and experience of taking enquiries from the public. Must be computer literate, ability to operate effective systems for managing personal caseload and to work without close supervision, prioritize own workload and meet deadlines, experience working with persons in crisis, a strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees, professional attitude with an understanding of best practice policies in counselling and personal support services and willingness to work at odd hours.

Experience and Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Health, Education, Social Sciences, Humanities or Social Work
