Hughes Tawanda Munthali is a Programme Support Manager (PSM) whose professional journey with YONECO commenced on 1st December, 2009, as a Field Officer under the Tithandizane National Helpline Services. Hughes has held different positions within YONECO including Project Officer – Helpline; Helpline Services Manager and District Manager for Mchinji.
In his capacity as a PSM, Hughes is responsible for providing overall programme and administrative oversight of activities in the following district Offices, Lilongwe, Mchinji and Ntchisi.
Hughes Tawanda Munthali is a holder of a University of Malawi Certificate in Counselling. Currently, Hughes is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with Amity University. Hughes Munthali has professional certificates in Psychosocial Counselling; Child Protection; Case Management; Project Management as well as Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for young people.
Hughes has undergone a number of capacity strengthening exercises including the following; Feminist Counselling for GBV Survivors (GBV Prevention Network – Uganda) and Comprehensive Sexuality Education Trainer of Trainers course (UNFPA East and Southern Africa – Swaziland).
Over the years, Hughes has participated in a number of strategic assignments at national level including consultancy services for the Malawi Youth Situation Analysis 2014 commissioned by Ministry of Youth Maestral International; the Roll-Out of the National Child Helpline Services in Malawi. In addition to this, contributed towards the development of the revised Youth Friendly Health Service Manual 2015 edition; Malawi Case Management Strategic Plan under the Ministry of Gender and the Multi-Disciplinary Sexual Gender Based Violence team for Zomba District.
