YONECO joined the Malawi Government 

and various stakeholders in launching the 2020 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV) at a function that was held at Makawa Primary School Ground in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Mponda in Mangochi district.

The launch event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Gender, Children and Community Development; Honourable Patricia Kaliati.
 
The function was aired live on YONECO FM (YFM). Further to this, YONECO also mounted a pavilion where the institution showcased its work and it operated as an information desk. A number of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
 
With support from Chibuku Products Limited and Rab Processors Limited, YONECO distributed Vital Bottled Water and Maheu Super bottles that were branded with YONECO toll-free GBV Crisis Line.
 
Malawi launched the campaign under a localized theme of ‘Unite to End Gender Based Violence: Prevent, Report, Respond, Fund’. On the other hand, the Global Theme is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!”
 
16 Days of Activism against GBV campaign starts on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25th November and ends on the International Human Rights Day, which falls on 10th December. During this campaign period various players highlight 16 key facts on intimate partner and sexual violence against women.
