As one way of enhancing youth development in Malawi, YONECO has handed 80 piglets to 20 young famers from the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Nyaluwanga in Nkhata Bay district.

Each of the 20 recipients got a male and a female piglet. The initiative is a pass on programme whereby the first recipients are expected to share the offsprings of the piglets they have received.

The ceremony was presided over by one of YONECO’s Board Members, Samuel Botha. The function was also attended by T/A Nyaluwanga as well as other community and religious leaders.

In his remarks, the T/A Nyaluwanga stated that young people’s economic empowerment interventions are key preventing delinquent behaviours among the youth.
