I am Chifuniro Elvis Rabson. I am studying Early Childhood Development (ECD) at Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU). I have been working with YONECO as an intern at the organization’s district office in Blantyre since February, this year.

In my field of study, having a hands-on experience with a particular institution is among the requisites for an academic award. As such, the choice of doing internship at YONECO was kindled by my passion for promoting the wellbeing of women and children. In addition to this, I also wanted  to learn more, get some experience and build my career in ECD.

After 5 months of internship at the organization, I can happily conclude that my stay at YONECO   was worthwhile. I have acquired a lot of knowledge and skills within and beyond my field of study. I can describe my time with YONECO as interesting, inspiring, satisfactory and exciting. Through YONECO, I have learnt to properly plan in order to meet targets, work under pressure and during odd hours.  I  have also acquired the necessary interpersonal skills so much that I am able to work with various community members and respecting cultural diversity.

Working with YONECO exposed me to facilitation of play and learn sessions, life skills and parenting sessions, data collection and entry, developing concept notes, monitoring of development activities, and report writing among others.

I urge everyone to ensure that children are happily exercising their right to education. This is a right direction towards the realization of sustainable economic growth.
