In a bid to enhance youth development, YONECO conducted a career guidance session at Balaka Secondary School as a way of supporting the students to make informed decisions as they set their life goals.
The session mainly targeted students from junior secondary school classes who were also urged to stay away from alcohol and drugs in order to achieve their goals.
“Alcohol and drug abuse are among the key factors that stand in young people’s way to access. As such, young people need to be aware of this and ably resist peer pressure,” explained Blessings Chinula – one of the officers who facilitated the session.
The students acknowledged that they fail to properly set goals due to limited knowledge about various career choices. The students asked a number of questions on the requisites for joining various professions.
In total, the session was attended by a total of 146 students.
