Romeo Soko is a Human Science and Community Services third student from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) who joined YONECO in June, 2022 as a Programmes Intern.

In his capacity as a programmes Intern, Romeo has been attached to YONECO District Office in Ntcheu where he is responsible for activity planning, community mobilization, facilitating awareness campaigns, on nutrition, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), human rights, climate change and disaster management. Further to this, Romeo also support various youth and women empowerment initiatives.

“My industrial attachment with YONECO has greatly contributed a lot to my personal and career growth in so many ways and within a short a short period of time. l have managed to learn GBV Case Management, community engagement meetings have also helped me to boost my communication and public speaking skills. In addition to these, I have learnt how to compile activity and programmatic reports and I now appreciate the role and importance of teamwork in service delivery,” explained Romeo.

Remeo also added that: “I would therefore like many other students to come and do their internship with YONECO as this will give them an opportunity to gain the necessary practical experience. as they will be mentored by experience”.
