Parent Child Communication (PCC) is there to help parents become knowledgeable and comfortable as sex educators. Good PCC around sexuality helps adolescents to make informed decisions pertaining to their Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), consequently this leads to an overall reduction in the number of SRH challenges which young people face.

It is against this background that YONECO with funds from UNFPA trained PCC Facilitators to be facilitating PCC sessions and ensuring effective communication between parents and children for informed decision making on Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH).

Parents and adolescents from the areas of Traditional Authority (T/A) Chilikumwendo, Kachere and Kaphuka in Dedza who participated in the PCC sessions which YONECO organized, expressed their satisfaction with the approach. in their remarks the parents said “through PCC, they are now able to openly discuss issues of sex and sexuality with their adolescent children, a thing that was unthinkable before the introduction of the PCC sessions. On the other hand, adolescent boys and girls also acknowledged how PCC has helped to improved the social cultural environment so much that they are now able to engange their parents on SRH issues
