YONECO, alongside its partners and community members, participated in a tree-planting activity at Mphepozinayi Health Centre in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Njolomole in Ntcheu district on December 20th, 2023.
A total of 600 trees were planted around the health facility in line with the interventions being advocated for in the 2022/2023 National Forestry Season. This season, themed ‘Restore degraded forest landscapes for livelihood security’, was launched on 23 December, 2022 and will run until April 15 April, 2023.
Ntcheu District Council is aiming to facilitate the planting of 1 million trees this season. So far, the council has managed to get 1,164,356 tree seedlings from communal and privately-owned commercial tree nurseries.
