On April 12, 2023, YONECO held a sensitization meeting on drug and substance abuse with members of Kalumbu Youth Club in the area of Group Village Head (GVH) Kalumbu Traditional Authority (T/A) Njolomole’s area in Ntcheu.

The objective of the session was to mitigate the effects of drug and substance abuse among the youth.

The session covered various issues, including societal and cultural factors that contribute to drug abuse trends among young people. The participants were encouraged to take responsibility of their lives by making informed decisions and seeking help when they face problems.

Among other channels, the participants were made aware of YONECO’s Tithandizane toll-free drug and substance helpline which is accessible on 6600.

In total, the sessions were attended by 23 young people. Out of the total number of participants, 16 were boys and 7 girls who were within the age range of 12 to 18.
