Parliamentary Committee on Social and Community Services toured YONECO Head Office in Zomba district in an on-going familiarization tour which started on 5 and ended on 6 June 2021.

In his remarks, the Chairperson for the Committee, Honourable Savel Kafwafwa, stated that YONECO has always been a pacesetter and a reliable institution when it comes to promotion of youth, women and children’s rights in Malawi. Honourable Kafwafwa explained that his committee is aware of the good work which YONECO is doing. Thus, Kafwafwa added that this is why his committee decided to have an engagement meeting with YONECO in order to enhance synergy between the two organizations.
During the visit, the Members of Parliament (MPs) toured Tithandizane Helpline Services department, YONECO ICT Centre and YFM studios before holding an interface meeting with some members of YONECO Board of Trustees as well as the senior management team. Further to this, the parliamentarians, in the company of YONECO management, Board members together with members of the press had a luncheon at Sunbird Ku Chawe Hotel. From there, the group visited one of YONECO’s Youth Drop in Centres at Mapale Township and boot camp session for young boys and girls at Thondwe.
The law makers also meet beneficiaries of various interventions which YONECO is implementing in Zomba district.
