As one way of preventing child marriages, community members from the area of Senior Chief Malemia in Zomba have formulated by-laws which will punish everyone taking part in the malpractice.

Speaking on Thursday morning during the signing ceremony, Member of Parliament for Zomba Malosa constituency Grace Kwelepeta said she will work with all the stakeholders in the area to fight the malpractice.
In attendance during the signing ceremony are Zomba District Commissioner, Smart Gwedemula, Senior Chief Malemia and Domasi Police Officer-In-Charge, Superintendent Micheal Makaka.
Annually, about 250 children get married in the area of Senior Chief Malemia.
